The occurrence of mycotoxins in sweet maize hybrids

The objective of the present study was to investigate susceptibility maize hybrids natural mycotoxins contamination: aflatoxin total (AFLA), deoxynivalenol (DON), zearalenon (ZEA) and fumonisins (FB). Hybrids were grown during two production years (2019 2020) in locations. Mycotoxin contamination grains evaluated five sweet hybrids. Contamination level investigated first cluster mainly by below average values ZEA (all equal zero) DON. PK4 (S) 2020, PK6 (MS) 2020 had for AFLA, while remaining treatments this have mostly elevated mycotoxin. second increased DON AFLA. Samples did not contain fumonisins. significantly affected years. We established that levels influenced environmental conditions. There no significant effects location on AFLA variation properties mycotoxin content (DON) hybrids, there significance x interaction. Differences more expressed compared Hybrid PK1 lowest DON, it highest ZEA. analyses showed all tested FBs maximum permissible stipulated legislation European Union Republic Serbia intended direct human consumption.
